Sankofa Education Program
Youth Study Abroad Program
The Sankofa program is an immersive experience that gives American children an opportunity to evolve in the rich traditions of African culture.
The goal of the Sankofa program is to restore traditions in the Pan-African community. Sankofa students will be given a holistic education, while they are guided through a journey of self-exploration curated by traditions. The students will live in the cultural beach town of Cotonou, Benin and learn to cultivate meaningful relationships with nature and their community.
The Sankofa Program follows a core curriculum that is supplemented by elective modules taught by local and international artists and teachers. We have partnered with Le Petite Poucet, a local elementary school located in Cotonou, Benin. Students are between the ages of 5-11 years old and are offered a scholastic education consistent with their age group. Our electives courses are rooted in African and Beninese culture and will include a broad spectrum of creative genres like music, dance, art, physical excersise, and history.
On the weekends, the children will receive traditional, cultural, and spiritual education, lead by the global president of Naziafah Organization (Minon Nahye Kpessi Ko’ndodo Todegla) and U.S. President (Priestess Haneera Abounu) at the Palais de la Reine-mere temple in Allada Benin.
The cost to register for the Sankofa Program is $500 (non refundable). Separately program tuition will include tutoring, housing, food, elective courses, transportation, and security (additional fees to apply).
